Fanatic’s Stubby Air 8’6 is brand new for the 2016 range and quickly became a favourite at SUP North! It takes the current lean towards Vanguard-type boards with parallel rails and more volume in the nose and tail, and translates it into an iSUP inflatable version, perfect for travelling or for those with storage issues.
The Stubby Air is 8’6 in length and 29.5″ wide, with 178L of volume – so plenty to float most SUPpers. It’s 4.5″ thick, so comparable to other high performance surf SUPs and uses Fanatic’s double layer light construction, as seen on their inflatable race boards As we have found when trying out this style of board recently, the wider nose and tail makes them super-stable, so riders can surf a board much shorter than they would usually. The swallow tail is the first we’ve seen on an inflatable and we can’t wait to see how well it helps the board to turn on a wave. Designed for smaller waves, this board should fit nicely into the swell that we’re most often treated to on the North West coast! As an added bonus the board has an insert for a windsurf mast foot, so it’s a windSUP as well as a compact surf SUP.

Seen here under the arm and feet of Fanatic pro rider Airton Cozzolino, the Stubby Air certainly rips!
Update: The Fanatic 8’6 Stubby Air is now in stock and available to demo at SUP North on flat water, waves or as a windSUP with the Arrows iRig! Go to the link for more information on the product page
